COMPLAINT AND INVESTIGATION PROCEDURE:
All the complaints and investigations are processed and finalized by the Public Relations and Complaint Committee (PRCC).
If the member is found guilty, the result of the investigation is referred to the Registration Committee to change the status of the member to “Suspended” or “Revoked” on the public site along with the detailed explanation of the complaint and investigation process.
Any public member or other health practitioners may initiate a complaint procedure against an active, inactive or student Member of the CSOAM. The complaint must be in writing and shall include the following information: The name and contact information of the Complainant, the date of incident, the details of the incident and the signature of the Complainant. After receiving the official complaint, the Public Relations and Complaint Committee (PRCC) will send a copy of the complaint to the Member. The Member has up to 30 days to send a written response to this complaint. The copy of this response will be sent to the Complainant. If the response is satisfactory for both the complainant and the PRCC, the procedure might get terminated. However, if there is a need for any investigation or further discussion, the PRCC will arrange an interview with the Member and Complainant and/or initiates an investigation to finalize this process.
If the Member is found guilty, the membership will be either suspended for a certain period of time or revoked permanently depending on the extent of the damage has been made to the client, to the reputation of the Osteopathy / Alternative Medicine field and also to the CSOAM. As soon as the result of the investigation is finalized and the membership status changes to "Suspended" or "Revoked", this will appear on the CSOAM website with the detailed explanation of the complaint and investigation procedure.
Alternatively, If a report is received via a public member or another health practitioner to indicate the Member may be in breach of any of the CSOAM Bylaws or the CSOAM Code of Ethics, the investigation may also be initiated. The report by a public member or other health practitioners is only valid if the name and contact information of the public member or the Practitioner is included in the report. Anonymous reports will not initiate any Disciplinary procedure.
